My Journey

My interest in art, particularly in drawing, began early in life. I was always doodling and drawing a new "still life" on every pad of paper when I decided to enter a contest from Reader's Digest's "Draw Spunky." To my surprise, I won and received a $25 award. Only 8 years old, I was thrilled and encouraged to continue.

When I reached high school, I enrolled in every art class I could: drawing, ceramics, jewelry design, etc. The Governor's Exhibition even showcased one of my pottery pieces, another exciting acknowledgement in the local art community. Despite my exploration of almost every medium of art, I never had the opportunity to learn to paint in high school.

Although my parents encouraged me to pursue a math and science degree in college that led me to a more technical career, my love for art never died. After a math-based career and raising a family, I made my way back to the art world in 2010 when I enrolled in painting classes from Paul Hamilton, whose extraordinary oil paintings inspired me to learn the medium I had missed out on in high school. Shortly after my first few classes, I knew oil painting was my passion. I loved learning how to turn drawings into paintings and instantly knew oil was the medium I wanted to pursue.

My house became a gallery filled with my art - I was running out of wall space when family and friends began to request my paintings or ask for comissioned paintings of photos they had given me. I have also dontated paintings to fundraisers as well as showcased and sold some of my work at the Art@43023 gallery in Granville, Ohio. Today, I continue to paint for myself as well as for commission. Please contact me if you have any specific requests in regards to the paintings posted on my website or a potential comission. I am happy to work with you to provide you the art you desire.
